MARCOR Remediation Announces Online Site for Industrial Hygienists at AIHce

4/29/2004–Atlanta, GA–MARCOR Remediation, Inc., a nationwide, full-service environmental contractor, has launched a new website service devoted exclusively to the interests of the Industrial Hygiene community, it was announced at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo here.
Included in the new web page - found at www.marcor.com -- is a menu of peer-reviewed technical papers that can be accessed in PDF format, as well as project reports, commentary from Industrial Hygienists, and statistics on clearance testing. Visitors to the site will qualify for a free gift.
MARCOR's booth at the AIHce featured information on the contractor's diverse industrial services, including mold remediation, asbestos and lead abatement, duct cleaning, and IAQ testing. As a pioneer in the field of mold remediation, MARCOR reports an intense interest in the subjects of mold contamination and contractor qualifications. "With mold being touted by some as 'the toxic tort of the new millennium,' it has created new business opportunities for inexperienced entrepreneurs looking to capitalize on the 'mold is gold' mantra," said Steve Silicato, REM, CIE, and MARCOR vice president. "Due to the fact that there is no single certification for remediators, there is considerable risk to Industrial Hygienists when hiring a firm that has little or no remediation knowledge or qualifications."
Typically, Industrial Hygienists may validate the work of an environmental contracting firm such as MARCOR by performing a variety of tasks, including air sampling after completion of an asbestos abatement project; checks of containment systems for leaks as well as adequate negative air pressure; and a final clearance air sampling. Other services may include sampling for PCBs or lead dust, and bacterial or microbial cleanup such as the anthrax decontamination done by MARCOR at the Hart Senate Office Building following the attack on the office of Sen. Tom Daschle after the event of Sept. 11, 2001.
