MARCOR Remediation Unveils Meth Lab Remediation Web Page at AIHce 2006
Exhibiting at Booth 1160
5/15/2006–Chicago, IL–With the health and environmental dangers that accompany the growing national epidemic of clandestine methamphetamine laboratories, Industrial Hygienists (IH) should be familiar with qualified, experienced meth lab remediation firms that can handle the highly specialized and hazardous cleanup work. To help educate occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) experts, MARCOR Remediation, Inc., a national environmental contractor, has created a “Meth Lab Remediators” Web page to provide valuable information on this discipline.
The new Web service was announced at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition here at Booth 1160. The American Industrial Hygiene Association is focusing its attention on the meth lab problem by setting up a mock meth lab display at the exposition.
The page, found at http://www.marcor.com/meth, gives a brief overview of the serious meth lab hazards that threaten the police that discover them, as well as the occupants, neighbors, landlords, and everyone else who comes in contact with the site. “Having quick access to fully trained experts to catalog, package and remove hazardous materials is absolutely necessary to the OEHS expert,” explained Steven R. Silicato, vice president of MARCOR Remediation. “The time to find and vet the best specialists for scenarios like these is before the emergency occurs. That’s why we encourage IHs to evaluate their resources early.” According to Silicato, IHs should look for certified personnel with an in-depth knowledge of regulatory standards and years of biohazard/waste management experience.
Just winding up its 25th Anniversary year, MARCOR Remediation, one of the nation’s leading environmental contractors, has a long history of pioneering work in asbestos and lead abatement and mold remediation. It was the first environmental contractor in the country to be licensed to perform asbestos removal. In addition, it earned the nation’s first license to perform mold remediation. In the lead abatement area, the company was one of the first to work closely with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to identify and test best methods for lead-based paint abatement. The company’s close work with regulators in creating safe work practices is one quality that sets it apart from other contractors, according to company officials.
MARCOR has a successful and respected working relationship with IHs and IH consultants, which is supported by a 99% pass rate on first clearance sampling. The company’s H&S Program, monitored by a PhD/CIH/CSP, provides cost-efficient site-specific solutions to environmental problems. MARCOR’s “Industrial Hygienists Only” web page includes details about the company’s stringent Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program that ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as case studies of successful remediation projects of interest to IHs. It also includes printable technical papers on a variety of topics and news on mold symposia being held throughout the country.
