MARCOR Ramps Up Emergency Response Services to Meet Severe Hurricane Forecast Head-On

Programs lock in availability and labor and material rates

5/31/2006––With meteorological experts proclaiming the start of a 20-year cycle of severe hurricanes, it is imperative that property owners develop an emergency response plan to mitigate danger to human health and property. Recognizing this need, MARCOR Remediation, Inc., a leading national environmental services contractor, has ramped up its retained services programs to better serve commercial, industrial, and governmental facility owners and managers along U.S. coastlines and particularly in the hurricane-prone Gulf States.

"MARCOR's programs give owners and managers the opportunity to quickly meet short-term emergency needs via advance planning and budgeting," explained Jeff Galvan, MARCOR’s Director of Disaster Recovery. "We essentially become part of the facility staff. We identify hazards, plan the response, and guarantee our availability after the disaster strikes.

"Through our cost-effective programs, we guarantee upfront pre-negotiated labor and material rates. By locking in these rates, procurement managers gain the peace of mind of knowing beforehand that they will have ready access to the best service provider and most reasonably priced supplies. There is no time to lose when a natural disaster strikes. By preplanning, managers have greater control in these situations," Galvan noted.

In addition, the MARCOR Retained Services Program (RSP) – with extensive in-house resources and a minimum of five full-time response managers on duty in the Gulf States alone – guarantees priority emergency response to the facility owner. "Rather than being placed on an environmental contractor’s waiting list, our customers will be given first priority over others when disasters strike," he said. By being completely prepared beforehand, the owner greatly decreases his or her risk of liability.

Included in MARCOR's programs are a comprehensive assessment of the facility’s resources and identification of any known hazards, such as the presence of asbestos, lead, or underground storage tanks. The MARCOR staff will also provide free training to the facility's maintenance staff on what to do in case of an emergency.

As an industry leader in flood and other disaster work, MARCOR can simplify the contracting process by providing a full array of preventative and recovery services. Before hurricanes hit, MARCOR can board up and secure property as needed. Afterward, rapid recovery services include temporary power, debris handling and disposal, hazardous materials removal, building drying and decontamination, mold/microbial remediation, and drywall installation and repair. The company's cost-effective dry-out technology uses hydronic heat to dry buildings much more quickly than conventional methods.

These include industrial cleaning, asbestos and lead hazard abatement, plant/process decommissioning and demolition, soil and groundwater remediation, emergency spill response, gun range remediation, and storage tank management.
