Swann Park Arsenic Contamination

Soil Cleanup in Progress

5/12/2008––Arsenic-contaminated soil at Baltimore's Swann Park was completed by September of 2008. MARCOR removed 13,000 tons (over 500 truckloads) of arsenic-contaminated soil; imported and graded 60,000 tons of clean fill; closed the existing storm drain system using 340 cu. yds. of flowable fill; installed a new, 972-linear-ft. HDPE stormwater pipeline/ drain and outfall; reinforced a head wall; built four ball fields, including a retaining wall, stairs, and field house pad; installed utilities; created a 5,400-ft.-long bike path; installed an irrigation system, eight stone check dams, and 950 linear ft. of earthen dikes; and installed 19 light poles.
