Description of Work
The site was an active small arms range training facility for military personnel. MARCOR performed soil excavation; mechanical screening; mechanical separation utilizing MARCOR's patented pneumatic separation process; and final placement of approximately 3,000 cubic yards of the formerly lead-contaminated, bullet-laden soil.
Equipment requirements included an excavator, backhoe, front-end loader, skid steer loader, dump truck, screening plant, 40,000-cfm dust collector, PM-10 perimeter air monitors, and MARCOR's patented pneumatic separation unit (PSU).
Separation techniques generated a high-clarity end product that was greater than 90% lead. This was shipped to a lead smelter, proving an economic gain for the customer.
